The project reflects on the idea of civic engagement: At the building scale, it is a “permanent” manifestation of community involvement; At the room scale, creating spaces to house evolving and “temporary” interactions. The design fosters various formats of congregations from one-to-one conversations to town-hall-style assemblies. Through reimagining a varied definition of “public” ranging from those who pass by to frequent visitors, a built structure can reflect and reshape a given community.
