Marquee Moon

The project is formed by three sheds, each span perpendicular to one side of the site, creating an urban valley at the center surrounded and seen by the huge pitched roofs that read as mountains range from the city. While the top of the roof serves seeing, housed by the roofs are the sports to be seen. The spectator seating and staircase populates from bottom to top, outdoor to indoor thus becomes part of the topography. The double roof structure bridges the gigantic steel frame shed and the single pitched roof supported by the brickwork retaining peers. At the same time, it creates an aperture for light and air. The section of the sheds conforms to become a dynamic space in plan. An urban staircase passes through the composition, made of brick, that grounds and recesses both structure and visitors, calibrated to scale from street to courtyard, to new public outdoor space facing west at the main entrance. The roof is cladded with semi-translucent, milky colored roof shingles. Trusses are square sections, 200mm x 200mm.
